Taxes & Classification

Taxe de Séjour (Tourist Tax)

This is common throughout France and many countries in Europe and the world. The taxe de séjour, first introduced in 2006, is used exclusively to help with financial cost of running the local Tourist Offices and the promotion of tourism in our area. Our Taxe de Sejour is levied by the Communauté de Commune de Charente Limousin on all people aged 18 and over staying in holiday accommodation. We are required to collect it on their behalf and remit the proceeds to them.

The Classification System (The Gites at Le Tilleul is 4 Star rated)

The amount of the Taxe de Sejour payable varies according to the type and official classification of the property.

We were visited and reviewed by the classification organisation Etoiles de France in February 2019 when both of our gites, Le Pommier & Le Cerisier were awarded a 4 star Meublé de Tourisme classification. To achieve this, both of our properties went through a very comprehensive and exacting assessment process conducted by a trained and accredited professional assessor who meticulously checked against 112 criteria covering all aspects of the property, the grounds and the facilities.

We are very proud of this achievement and believe it recognises the high standards and facilities that we believe we offer our guests.

TVA (VAT)

By nature of our business regime TVA is not payable and is not charged.
